Before getting dreadlocks

Healthy hair is good base for healthy dreadlocks.

NAANUdreads recommends silicone free and parabene free shampoo with dreadlocks. Silicone and parabens will build up inside the dreads causing dirtyness and bad odour.

It's good to get used to the new shampoo at least couple of weeks before dreading your hair.

Good shampoo brands for dreadlocks are for example Dollylocks, Saaren Taika, Urtekram, and other organic brands, Xz and Erittäin Hieno Suomalainen-series.

You don't need conditioners with dreadlocks. Stop using conditioner couple of weeks before getting dreads to clean your hair from possible silicone and parabene.

If you get partial dreads or Loose Ends, you can use conditioner to the open hair and to the Loose Ends.

Come to dread appointment with clean and dry hair.

Don't use any leave in-conditioning or styling before dread appointment.

Brush your hair before dreading.

If you have free form locks, let them be as they are.
